Promoting Good Practice in Land Tenure and Management in Africa

We are a working group of the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA), documenting case studies of good land tenure and management practices. The goal is to make an evidence-based, coherent case for African positive and sustainable land tenure and management in Africa. For example, case studies might cover subjects such as:

  • communities successfully advocating for progressive land tenure policies;
  • successful campaigns against land grabbing;
  • how degraded or abandoned land was brought back into production through sustainable land management / natural resource management practices.

You are warmly invited to get involved

Maybe you already have a case study of good practice to send us, or maybe you have access to a great project as yet undocumented. Maybe you have reports and photos that can help to show the benefits of African traditional land tenure. Or maybe you need help to research and document an example of good practice

We can help you compile and share your case study, showing the many benefits in terms of gender security, poverty reduction, climate change adaptation and mitigation, biodiversity conservation, cultural sensitivity, democracy, justice, etc.

The best case studies will be professionally edited, designed, translated into both English & French, and published online and in hard copy. You can see some recent AFSA case studies on agroecology here.

If you have a case you would like to share, please download and fill in the Expression of Interest form in English or French and return it to: famara.diedhiou@afsafrica.org by March 31st 2018.

We look forward to hearing from you.
