Seed is Life – a 3 min film

African farmers have been planting, saving and exchanging seeds for countless generations – adapting them to their environment, their cultures and their tastes. Thanks to them, Africa has a rich diversity of nutritious food crops, providing 80% of Africa’s food needs. Now their rights are threatened by the industrial seed system. It’s time to stand up for farmers’ rights to to save, plant, exchange and sell their life-giving seeds, and support them in building a healthy and sustainable food system for Africa.

This 3 minute animated film was launched today at a UN FAO meeting on the International Seed Treaty in Dakar, Senegal. It explains the issues and calls for action. Watch it here.
