This is a short summary of a research study to identify and review existing international and regional policies, legal frameworks and mechanisms in relation to land use, land rights, land management and ownership in Africa, with particular reference to food sovereignty, gender equality and community empowerment.

This summary report is part of an AFSA series of three policy studies, focusing on Land Rights, Agroecology, and Seed Sovereignty. These reports were published with the financial support of Bread for the World, The Tudor Trust, and The Swift Foundation.
