In News, Press Release, Secretariat

The Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) and the African Union (AU), in collaboration with the Eastern Africa Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Africa office of World Food Program have embarked on a four-year process aimed at developing a food policy for Africa. The project is in part supported by Welthungerhilfe (WHH) as part of its multi-country project “Strengthening Rural Governance for the Right to Adequate Food”.

As part of the project AFSA undertook a regional study to inform the development of an Africa Food Policy. The report provides main findings on why the continent needs an Africa Food Policy, recommendations on main topics that such a policy should cover and, a process and timeframe for developing it. AFSA now seeks to develop a policy brief based on the final study report with funding support of Welthungerhilfe.

Call for Expression of Interest.

The need to develop a policy brief is informed by the understanding that with the breadth of the study report (attached), it is necessary to identify key policy elements of the study, findings and recommendations for policy action.  Beyond presenting a summary of the study, the policy brief will inform the advocacy efforts of civil society actors to easily identify key policy issues, present to decision-makers and at the same time use these to develop position papers for their advocacy.

AFSA calls for individual expression of interest to develop the aforementioned brief.

The expression of interest must include the following;

Proposed outline of the brief
Proposed timelines within which the assignment will be undertaken
Cost Estimate subject to tax deductions as per laws of the Republic of Uganda.
Consultant credentials.

Deadline for submission: 24th July, 2021 Contact Email: afsa@afsafrica.org
