We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for qualified individuals or firms to participate in a critical research initiative aimed at transforming African food systems. The Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA), with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), is commissioning a Participatory Action Research study under the “My Food is African” project. This research will focus on African Foods, Food Security, and Food Systems, with the objective of contrasting agroecological and conventional narratives to promote sustainable and culturally appropriate food practices across the continent.

We invite you to submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) to undertake this important work. The successful applicant will be responsible for facilitating a comprehensive study designed to inspire African citizens to demand and consume healthy, culturally appropriate food, supported by favorable policies by 2026.

How to Apply: To be considered for this consultancy, please submit the following documents via email to afsa@afsafrica.org by 5:00 pm (East Africa Time) on Friday, August 30, 2024:

  1. A letter expressing your interest (1-2 pages).
  2. A short technical proposal (1-4 pages) that outlines your technical understanding of the assignment, proposed methodology, timeline, and budget.
  3. A general profile of your firm or as an individual consultant, including evidence of previous work done and your CV(s).

Important: Please ensure your email subject line reads: “AFSA-Participatory Action Research – Narrative”

For detailed information on the scope of work and expectations for this project, please refer to the attached Terms of Reference (ToR).

We look forward to receiving your proposals and working together to shape a sustainable future for African food systems.
