We are pleased to share that the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) is seeking to hire a highly qualified and experienced Food Systems Coordinator. This pivotal role will involve overseeing and coordinating key projects aimed at transforming African food systems towards sustainability, including significant responsibility in managing the “My Food is African” project, the Congo Basin Food Systems Initiatives, and other AU policy-related processes.

The successful candidate will also act as a liaison for the Citizen Working Group, facilitating its activities while managing multi-country projects, engaging with key stakeholders, and contributing to policy development and advocacy efforts across Africa.

AFSA, launched in 2011, is a broad alliance of civil society actors committed to the struggle for food sovereignty and agroecology in Africa. With 40 active members across 50 African countries, AFSA is at the forefront of promoting sustainable food systems on the continent.

The position will be based in either Kampala, Uganda, or Dakar, Senegal, and the application deadline is August 20, 2024, at 5:00 PM EAT. We are looking for someone with a Master’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in food systems, food/agriculture policy work, or related fields in Africa. Fluency in English is required, with French being an added advantage.
